Tasks Complemeted [ 2013-07-28 - 2013-08-04 ]

System Design has been done using Unified Modeling Language (UML) which is a standardized general purpose  modeling language in the field of Object-Oriented Software engineering.
I have created initial UML Class diagrams and State diagram using Rational Rose Tool. I have considered both parking occupancy monitoring and system administration in design phase.

Parking occupancy monitoring & system administration

Parking occupancy monitoring & system administration module is a major module in this system. Following UML Class diagram and State diagram has been created for this module.

Database Server Configuration

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 has been installed as SQL database server in Windows platform.
Location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA
Installation Guide: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Help 8\dexplore.exe

For this Parking Lot Occupancy Tracking System internal test database called “PLOTS” has been used.

Tasks Completed [ 2013-07-30 - 2013-08-04 ]

Under system analysis phase following major functionalities have been analysed.
  • User LOGIN.
  • Main Display Screen.
  • System Data Maintenance
  • Signal Passing via Sensors.
  • Unit Controller define occupied spots.
  • Control system send information to a display board.

User LOGIN

  •  User Groups are Admin and normal user
            - Admin user has higher system Privileges

  •  Login Password
           - 8 Digits
           - Combined with Number(s) , Capital letter(s), Simple letters(s)

Main Display Screen

  • Shows parking space availability
  • Shows vehicle registration number recognized by the reader
  • Shows log-in user name
  • User can log-off using Sign-Off button

System Data Maintenance

  • Maintain Users
          - Admin user can add, edit and delete users
  • Delete Old Data
         - Used to delete old users, vehicle data, parking data

Signal Passing via Sensors

Occupied parking spaces will detect by sensors mounted into each parking spot.To detect vehicle presence, each sensor uses the light sensitivity. Electrical signals generated by sensors directly will transmit to the unit controller via relay nodes.

Control system send information to a display board

The unit controller will define occupied spots in relevance to received signals from sensors and control system send this information to a main display board to indicate this.
